Sound Suit Wearable Sculpture

This is a big project. You will have Spring Break to get started, and then two in-class work days. It will count for 2 grades (one for your project critique and one for being prepared & working in class). For this project, make a wearable sculpture that covers your whole body. Look at the Soundsuits for inspiration, but make the idea your own. Try to incorporate sound into your project. We will have a parade for the critique, so make sure you can see.

Get to know sculptor Nick Cave from Chicago, and his Soundsuit series. Don't confuse the sculptor with the musician with the same name.

Schedule
Spring Break: Look at lots of pictures, videos, and articles about Nick Cave's Soundsuits. Get to know them really well. Make sketches for your wearable sculpture.
Homework due April 9: Collect materials, and experiment with materials.
Apirl 9: First in-class work day. Come with your materials, ideas, any special tools you'll need, and your experiments. Being prepared and working in class count toward your grade.
Homework for April 12: Work on your sculpture outside of class. This will count towards your grade.
April 16: 2nd in-class work day.
April 23: Critique
